Access All Areas

We are delighted to announce that existing patients can now enjoy access to our wide range of services at the touch of a button. Whether managing your appointments or ordering a repeat prescription, you can now do both without leaving your home.

In addition, if you would like to be able to view parts of your health records online, you can request this through your online account (known as SystmOnline).

To register for your online account, please bring a copy of photo ID to the front desk and request access during our registration times; between 11:00 and 12:30 / 15:00 and 18:00 weekdays.

Once you have an online account, you can make a request to the practice to access to your detailed coded records as follows:

  •  Log onto your SystmOnline account
  •  Select Online Account Management
  •  Select Manage Online Services
  •  Find the Detailed Coded Record section of the table and select ‘Add’

That’s it! Your request will have been sent to the practice. Select ‘back’ to return to your online services.  

Once the practice receives your request, we must undertake a number of checks before access to this information can be granted. Please be aware that it may take up to three weeks to review your application and grant access (if appropriate). This is a guide only and in some circumstances may take longer.

You will only be contacted if there is a problem with granting access. You will not be contacted to confirm that access has been granted.

Patient Online Access - Statement of Intent for Marlborough Medical Centre

As you may be aware, the new GP contract for 2015/16 included a number of IT requirements in the following areas:

From April 2014, GP practices were required to include the NHS Number as primary identifier in all NHS clinical correspondence issued by the practice, whether transmitted electronically through Choose and Book, its successor, or on paper.

Electronic Appointment Booking

From April 2014, GP practices were required to promote and offer the facility for patients to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online.

The practice has been meeting this requirement since February 2015

On line Booking of repeat prescriptions

From April 2014, GP practices were required to promote and offer the facility for patients to order, view and print repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines and appliances online. 

As an early adopter of this service, the practice has been meeting this requirement since at least 2010.

Summary Care Record (SCR)

From April 2014, GP practices were required to enable automated uploads of any changes to a patient's summary information in the medical record, at least on a daily basis, to the Summary Care Record (SCR).

GP2GP transfers

From April 2014, practices were required to utilise the GP2GP facility for the transfer of all patient records between practices, when a patient registers or de-registers (not for temporary registration).

However, this requirement is subject to the resolution of outstanding issues with GP2GP, such as the safe incorporation of changes to the patient's record when they return to their originating practice, and these outstanding issues are expected to be resolved during 2015-2016.

In order to achieve this requirement, national updates were needed to our clinical system. Since this update has been in place, and staff training in August 2014, we have been meeting this requirement.

Patient Access to the detailed information from the medical record

From April 2014, GP practices were required to promote and offer the facility for patients to view online or print the information held in their Summary Care Record (i.e. medications, allergies and adverse reactions and any additional information the patient had explicitly consented to). However, it was recognised by NHS England that not all systems would have the functionality to enable GP practices to comply with this requirement from April 2014.

Following the 2015-2016 GP contract negotiations, GP practices will also be required to offer online access to the detailed information from the medical record i.e. information held in coded form where the necessary systems are available to practices.

Since April 2014, patients have been able to request access to view their Summary Care Record through their existing online access. We are awaiting a national update from our clinical system provider to enable the practice to allow online access to the detailed information from medical records. It is our intention to have this development available to our patients by 31 March 2016, if technology allows.

Named GP for All Patients

In accordance with the current government and our NHS contract, all patients on our list have been allocated a named accountable GP. This GP is responsible for the co-ordination of all appropriate services that relate to your care.

You are unlikely to see any notable change in the way care is delivered to you by our practice, this process is simply a formalisation of our current process.

We hope that you are able to see this GP when you require an appointment with the practice, however, you will be able to book an appointment with any of our GPs.

If you do not know who your GP is, please ask at your next visit to the practice. 

If you would prefer for your care to be transferred to that of another GP in the practice, we will try to accommodate these requests when they are made in writing to the practice, and where the receiving doctor has the capacity to take more patients onto their list. If you feel you would like to change doctors, please put your request in writing to Amy Lacey, Patient Services Manager.

Friends and Family Test (FFT)

We would like your feedback on the care or treatment we give you any time you visit or have contact with the practice. To do this, we would encourage you to complete the Friends and Family Test through this website, or by requesting a form at reception.
