If your long-term medication is provided on repeat prescription you can order in a number of ways:
Requests for repeat medication will not be accepted over the telephone
The practice has an on-site dispensary. Patients living more than one mile from the nearest pharmacy can have their prescriptions dispensed if it is more convenient. For all prescription enquiries call the dispensary on 01672 514878.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please do ask your doctor if you are unsure as to what particular tablets are for, or what they do. We wish to involve you as much as possible in the management of any ongoing conditions that you may have.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. If you have asked for it to be sent to Boots or Kennet Pharmacy please allow longer.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.
Unless you are exempt from charges, all prescriptions dispensed by the practice carry a standard charge which must be paid when the prescription is collected.
For those on regular medication of two or more items per month, a prepayment certificate will prove to be the cheaper option. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication. Please enquire at Dispensary.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
